Learn how the Business Roundtable's 2019 Statement on the Purpose of a Corporation has inspired me on my entrepreneurial journey.

What do you think? Does this statement change the way you view your business?

Written Summary

As I attended my first MBA course at Endicott College, I didn't know what to expect. I had applied to the MBA program after spending some time in the non-profit sector, so I selected non-profit management as my required concentration. It didn't take long for that plan to change. In my very first course, my professor had the class study and talk about the 2019 Business Roundtable's Statement on the Purpose of a Corporation.

This statement expanded my vision for the value of businesses beyond merely making a profit. While making a profit is vital for a successful business, business leaders can hold the priority of profits with other equal priorities such as providing value to clients, dealing fairly with suppliers, investing in employees and their families, and giving back to our communities.

With this new greater and more comprehensive understanding of the purpose of businesses, I began to shift my future goals towards entrepreneurship. Within a few months, I had changed my MBA concentration to entrepreneurship so that I could pursue my vision to create sustainable businesses that allow people to make a successful living doing the work they love while also using their businesses to bless their clients, employees, vendors, and communities.

As an Entrepreneur Coach now, my vision is to help other entrepreneurs discover ways to utilize their passions and talents to create successful businesses that bless their own lives and the world. - Hunter Carroll
